Call for Applications: Core Research Cluster for Spintronics Award 2023
The Core Research Cluster for Spintronics at Tohoku University (hereinafter referred to as "CRC-Spin") launches the Core Research Cluster for Spintronics Award (hereinafter referred to as "CRC-Spin Award") from this year to honor early career researchers who have produced outstanding academic achievements and/or industrial applications in Spintronics in a broad definition of the field. We are now accepting applications for the CRC-Spin Award 2023 as follows. We look forward to receiving your application.
1. Purpose of the award
To honor early career researchers who have conducted research and development based on their own initiative in the field of Spintronics in the broad definition of the term, and who have produced high-impact academic achievements and/or industrial applications, and to foster and encourage further development of their research.
2. Eligibility requirements
The applicant must be a self-nominated individual and meets all of the following requirements.
(1) The applicant must be engaged in Spintronics research in the broad definition at Tohoku University (regardless of the department s/he works). S/he can be at any position as long as her/his research activities at the University are approved, e.g., a faculty member, a specially-appointed faculty member and a postdoctoral researcher etc., including those who are not employed by the University such as a JSPS PD)
(2) In principle, the applicant must have her/his doctoral degree within 13 years as of April 1, 2023. The period of maternity/paternity leave and childcare leave is excluded after obtaining the degree.

4. Selection process
(1) Selection criteria
① The results of the research & development are based on the applicant's original research concept.
② Excellent research results in academic and/or industrial applications
(2) Selection method
The winners will be selected by the CSIS (Center for Science and Innovation in Spintronics) Committee.
5. Awarding
Along with the award certificate, a supplementary award of 500,000-1,000,000 yen for research expenses will be given.
6. Obligations of the awardee
The awardee shall give a lecture at the award ceremony scheduled to be held on November 28-30, 2023.
